A Schedule For Raising
Conference Scholarships
Week of October 30: Planning
Pray.
Think through the "why's" of raising funds for the Conference
and the campus. Set a time for a "letter
writing party" the next week (that is, the week
before Thanksgiving). Encourage everyone to begin brainstorming
names of people to ask. Most people want to give, they
simply need to be asked. Think about: family and other
relatives (local and out-of-state), friends, businessmen
(Christian and non-Christian), church (talk to the pastor
first! - Sunday school, men's and women's groups, missionary
committee, youth group) Campus Crusade for Christ staff,
and faculty. Prioritize by writing those most likely
to give first.
Week of November 6: Writing
Pray.
Have a letter writing party.
Each person should bring a list of names. Make the party
fun with music and food. Take time to pray together
as a group. Use the sample letter
as a guide. Those unable to go to the Conference could
think in terms of raising funds for the ongoing campus
ministry. Consider meeting at someone's home who has
a computer. It would be ideal to have all the letter
typed up and in envelopes that night. However, you should
at least shoot for having all the envelopes addressed
(this can take the most time) and each student with
a sample letter they are going to for type up on their
own.
Week of November 13: Sending
Pray.
Finish up any last minute letters.
*MAIL ALL LETTERS ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 18th
Week of November 20: Thanking
Pray.
CHECK your mailbox! Thank God for answered prayer.
WRITE a brief, warm thank you note immediately after
their gift is received. Don't wait!
MAIL all scholarship checks to the Student LINC office
(once you get within two weeks of the Conference, hold
onto the checks, and bring them with you). Student LINC
will process these donations so donors will receive
a tax-deductible receipt and you will receive an account
transfer form giving you credit the amount you raised.
Donors must make checks out to Campus Crusade for
Christ in order for them to receive a tax deductible
receipt.
Week of November 27: Calling
Pray.
CALL those you haven't heard from. Remember, many people
are planning on giving, but are busy and just need to
be reminded.
Weeks of December 4 and 11: Wrapping up
Pray.
Call back anyone you haven't gotten a hold of. Hold
on to any additional checks you receive and bring them
to the Conference. Organize rides to the Conference.
December 25th - Christmas Day: Celebrate Jesus!
The Christmas Conference: Going
- Be sure all of the students know when
and where the conference is, and if you are driving
there together as a group, remind them when and where
you will be meeting to take off!
- Be sure you know the times you are
able to register, and plan to arrive at the correct
time.
- Be sure and bring any scholarship
checks with you to the Conference!
