weekly ministry tips

As you read this tip, yes it is December! And right now you're really thinking about nothing else then getting through your finals. However, I want to revisit one topic from last weeks tip because it very important for your ministry.

Careful planning for Spring Semester

Re-read last weeks tip to catch up to speed with the additional points we're sharing with you below. Here is some additional information and links for you as you gather your leadership team to plan for next semester.

  1. Evaluate how your semester went this fall: http://www.godsquad.com/leading/eval_earlyfsemester.htm
  2. What can you do the very first week of classes to gather new people? http://www.godsquad.com/leading/sixwkpln.htm and http://www.godsquad.com/pdfs/9principles.pdf
    1. try a big give-away at your first meeting. But advertise this give-away through posters and other publicity. Give away an iPod, laptop, mountain bike, HDTV set or...? The philosophy behind a nice give-away prize is that it will help you attract new people. Those who come to the meeting could either fill out a survey or sign an attendance roster, so that you might re-connect with them, share the gospel, and continue to invite them to your meetings. You want to meet as many new people as possible your first week of classes. Get your local church or business to donate or fund your give-away and dinner.
    2. Have a party on the Friday of your first week of classes. Feed everyone a Bar-b-q dinner and have a barn dance. Get people to mix, meet each other, have fun, and connect with them so you can stay in touch.
    3. Or try a pizza party and a movie night the first week of classes for the same reasons as above. Be creative – how can you gather new people that you can follow-up and invite to your Bible study as you start out your new semester?
  3. Encourage your students to pray regularly for your Spring semester during their Christmas break. Print out a specific prayer sheet and pass out at your next meeting. Pray for the Lord to move mightily on your campus this Spring.
  4. As also mentioned in last weeks tip, finalize those going to your regional Christmas conference soon, along with those thinking about going on summer projects.

Talk to you next week,
The GodSquad Team
